Newmarket's Cambridgeshire Meeting moves into its second day with two Group 2 contests, the Group 3 Princess Royal Stakes and two Listed races. There are 63 active runners across seven races after four confirmed non-runners. The ground is good, good to firm in places, and the card should reward horses able to travel efficiently on the Rowley Mile.

NEXT BEST: Alobayyah at 4/1

Blingy's Sister has something to forgive after failing to handle very soft ground in France, but the British evidence is much more persuasive. She was fourth of 30 at Royal Ascot, third on her next start and then beaten only three lengths at Haydock. Her peak performance figure of 102 leaves her close to the best of these, while the return to a sound-surface mile is strongly in her favour. Alobayyah is respected after her Royal Ascot success and is the strongest alternative, but the selection is sufficiently overpriced at 8/1, General, three places to warrant 1pt each-way.

VERDICT: Blingy's Sister, 1pt e/w at 8/1, General, 3 places. Back only at 7/1 or bigger; Alobayyah at 4/1 is the next best.

NEXT BEST: Inis Mor at 12/5

Prizeland is the NAP in a race where the market may be giving too much weight to Inis Mor's peak rating. The selection has form figures of 125214, stays the mile and a half and arrives only 15 days after another useful effort. Her official mark of 108 puts her firmly in the leading group, while Oisin Murphy can make use of a favourable inside draw. Inis Mor is the highest-rated mare and the obvious danger, but she weakened into eighth at York last time. At 3/1, General, Prizeland offers the better balance of current form, tactical position and price. The advice is 2pt win.

VERDICT: Prizeland, 2pt win at 3/1, General. Back only at 11/4 or bigger; Inis Mor at 12/5 is the next best.

Newmarket 14:25 | Ruby Moon | 0.5pt e/w at 20/1, BoyleSports, 3 places

NEXT BEST: Light Of Dawn at 4/1

The Rockfel contains several unexposed fillies, but Ruby Moon is much too big at 20/1. She was a close second over seven furlongs last time and owns a performance figure of 102, only three pounds below the leading achieved mark in the field. Her earlier ninth is an obvious blemish, yet the latest run shows she has recovered her progress. Light Of Dawn sets a clear standard after winning the Prestige Stakes and is the strongest alternative at 4/1. Ruby Moon's price more than compensates for the gap in reliability, so the official advice is 0.5pt each-way with BoyleSports, three places.

VERDICT: Ruby Moon, 0.5pt e/w at 20/1, BoyleSports, 3 places. Back only at 16/1 or bigger; Light Of Dawn at 4/1 is the next best.

NEXT BEST: Talk Of New York at 4/7

Talk Of New York is a high-class favourite, but 4/7 allows almost no margin for error. Persica comes here in excellent order with form figures of 252131, is proven over a mile and has a peak rating of 119, only two pounds below the market leader. His latest success confirms that he remains at the top of his game. With only two places available, the value case is strictly win-only. At 15/2, General, Persica is the more attractive proposition and is recommended as a 1.5pt win bet. Talk Of New York remains the likeliest winner and the price-only next best.

VERDICT: Persica, 1.5pt win at 15/2, General. Back only at 7/1 or bigger; Talk Of New York at 4/7 is the next best.

Newmarket 15:35 | Archers Bay | 2pt win at 6/1, General

NEXT BEST: Kokbastau at 13/8

This is a four-runner race, but the outsider is anything but a token participant. Archers Bay is the top-rated runner on the collected performance figures, won over course and distance in July and was beaten only a length at Ascot after racing wide. Ryan Moore returns, and the colt's blend of tactical speed and proven stamina makes 6/1, General look generous. Kokbastau has won three in succession and is the most credible alternative, though 13/8 asks him to improve again. Archers Bay is a 2pt win selection.

VERDICT: Archers Bay, 2pt win at 6/1, General. Back only at 11/2 or bigger; Kokbastau at 13/8 is the next best.

Newmarket 16:10 | Howzatt | 2pt win at 4/1, General

NEXT BEST: Sole Ambition at 10/3

Howzatt made a promising debut at Goodwood, staying on into fourth after being held up in a 13-runner field. That experience over seven furlongs should be valuable in a maiden containing several newcomers, and Billy Loughnane can put it to use from the outside stall. Sole Ambition has finished third in both starts and sets a dependable standard, but his price reflects that experience. Howzatt has the stronger improvement angle at 4/1, General, making him a 2pt win bet.

VERDICT: Howzatt, 2pt win at 4/1, General. Back only at 7/2 or bigger; Sole Ambition at 10/3 is the next best.

Newmarket 16:45 | Go Rimbaud | 2pt win at 6/1, General

NEXT BEST: Waterford Castle at 7/2

Go Rimbaud has finished second on his last two starts and returns to a trip at which he has already won. His current mark of 88 is demanding without being prohibitive, and another prominent position looks likely in a race where several rivals have questions to answer. Waterford Castle won last time and is the strongest alternative at 7/2, while the favourite Joulany must rebound from a poor Royal Ascot run. 6/1, General is a fair price for Go Rimbaud's consistency and race fitness, so the official advice is 2pt win.

VERDICT: Go Rimbaud, 2pt win at 6/1, General. Back only at 11/2 or bigger; Waterford Castle at 7/2 is the next best.

Prizeland is the NAP because she combines proven stamina, strong recent form and a favourable tactical position at a workable price. Archers Bay is next best of the day after a course win and a close Ascot third showed that his current rating underestimates him. Blingy's Sister and Ruby Moon offer the each-way value at prices that are larger than their achieved form warrants.
