This is today's meeting-led edition of our horse racing tips coverage.

Kerry National day is the centrepiece of Listowel's Harvest Festival and the Grade 3 chase gives the card a proper national focus. There are 92 active runners across seven races after one confirmed non-runner and the exclusion of reserves. I have opposed two short favourites where experience is underpriced, supported two stronger short-priced cases and found two each-way positions with verified place terms. The common thread is price rather than reputation.

The Racing Post Listowel card and Racing TV Listowel racecards report good ground, good to yielding in places after watering. The Grade 3 feature is worth €200,000 and has 18 active runners. Listowel 13:55 | Tyson Fury | 2pt win at 11/2, General

NEXT BEST: Love Me Tender at 8/15

The market assumes Love Me Tender will translate a useful Flat rating to hurdles immediately, but 8/15 is a severe price for a debut over obstacles. Tyson Fury has been placed on five of his seven hurdle starts and was second at Kilbeggan last time after another solid Galway effort. He is exposed and may again find one too good, yet that reliability is the precise reason 11/2, General appeals against an odds-on newcomer. Euro Agent has twice finished second but is rated thirteen pounds below Tyson Fury and has not matched his consistency. I want the selection kept close enough to make his experience count when the pace lifts. 2pt win is the correct stake, with the favourite retained as the price-only next best.

VERDICT: Tyson Fury, 2pt win at 11/2, General. Back only at 5/1 or bigger; Love Me Tender at 8/15 is the next best.

Listowel 14:30 | Bartholomew | 3pt win at 13/8, General

NEXT BEST: Columbus at 11/8

This five-runner novice turns on whether Columbus can control matters as easily as he did at Galway. His York Flat run since was poor, while Bartholomew has the stronger hurdle standard. He won decisively at Cork before finishing second at the Punchestown Festival, travelling with enthusiasm and keeping on behind a useful winner. His 141 Racing Post Rating is the most persuasive figure in the race. 13/8, General is not generous, and the tactical risk is that Columbus gets an uncontested lead, but the evidence still makes Bartholomew the bet. Golden Handshake and Cosmos d'Ainay are progressive winners, so this is no match. I make Bartholomew the NAP and a 3pt win, with 6/4 the minimum. Columbus is the credible alternative at 11/8.

VERDICT: Bartholomew, 3pt win at 13/8, General. Back only at 6/4 or bigger; Columbus at 11/8 is the next best.

Listowel 15:05 | Blue Reed | 0.75pt e/w at 11/1, Ladbrokes and Coral, 5 places

NEXT BEST: Glin Road Boy at 9/4

Glin Road Boy is a perfectly credible favourite after chasing home the highly progressive Timurshah at Sligo, but 9/4 is short in an eighteen-runner handicap. Blue Reed offers a different proposition at 11/1 with Ladbrokes and Coral, five places. He has finished first, second or third on each of his last six completed starts, was only a neck away at Kilbeggan in August and again ran second over this trip earlier in September. The mark of 98 asks another question, but Kevin Healy removes seven pounds and the horse's tactical reliability is unusually valuable in a race of this size. Aboras Mahler, Chemdawg and Granlahan all have live claims, which is why the place cushion matters. The official advice is 0.75pt each-way. Glin Road Boy remains the strongest alternative at 9/4, but the gap in price is too large to ignore.

VERDICT: Blue Reed, 0.75pt e/w at 11/1, Ladbrokes and Coral, 5 places. Back only at 10/1 or bigger; Glin Road Boy at 9/4 is the next best.

Listowel 15:40 | Smallcraftwarning | 0.5pt e/w at 16/1, General, 4 places

NEXT BEST: Humble Brag at 7/1

The obvious improvers are Humble Brag and Caher Roes Den, but both are being asked to prove that their latest wins can survive a jump in mark and trip pressure. Smallcraftwarning has already answered the stamina question. He won over three miles and a furlong at Kilbeggan two starts ago, coming from the rear to beat Cooladdi, and his subsequent Galway third came over fences on softer ground. Returning to hurdles from 99, he looks overpriced at 16/1, General, four places. Nine years of age limits the scope for improvement, and he must avoid being detached on this sharp circuit. Even so, the recent staying win is more relevant than the market allows. The bet is 0.5pt each-way, with 14/1 the floor. Humble Brag is next best at 7/1 because he is unexposed and shaped as though further would suit when winning at Cork.

VERDICT: Smallcraftwarning, 0.5pt e/w at 16/1, General, 4 places. Back only at 14/1 or bigger; Humble Brag at 7/1 is the next best.

Listowel 16:15 | Nowwhatdoyouthink | 2pt win at 4/1, General

NEXT BEST: Conyers Hill at 10/1

The Galway Plate is the key line and Nowwhatdoyouthink shaped there as though this longer trip would help. He hit a flat spot before recovering to finish fourth, only three and three-quarter lengths behind King Alexander, and his earlier Cork win over three miles was decisive. Gordon Elliott has one runner and Jack Kennedy rides, a combination that matters in a race requiring judgement as much as speed. King Alexander is respected but is eight pounds higher than at Galway and seeks a historic double. Downmexicoway is solid, while Funiculi Funicula must erase a major Galway disappointment. At 4/1, General, Nowwhatdoyouthink is a 2pt win bet and the next best of the day. Conyers Hill is the price-only alternative at 10/1 after consecutive staying seconds, including a half-length Galway Plate defeat from a lower mark.

VERDICT: Nowwhatdoyouthink, 2pt win at 4/1, General. Back only at 7/2 or bigger; Conyers Hill at 10/1 is the next best.

Listowel 16:47 | Miss Doyenne | 2pt win at 7/2, General

NEXT BEST: Lady Bluebird at 11/2

La Note Verte has the highest current rating and a recent Tramore win, but her jumping was repeatedly untidy and 5/6 asks for near perfection. Miss Doyenne is unbeaten on her last two starts, winning at Down Royal and Killarney over roughly this trip with a strong final effort. She returns from a break and this is a deeper novice-chase test, yet 7/2, General offers room for those risks. Lady Bluebird gives the form depth: she won at Wexford and was only narrowly denied at Galway, though she can be vulnerable if drawn into a battle too soon. I prefer Miss Doyenne as the 2pt win selection at 3/1 or bigger. Lady Bluebird is next best at 11/2; the favourite is the one to beat but not the one I want to back at the price.

VERDICT: Miss Doyenne, 2pt win at 7/2, General. Back only at 3/1 or bigger; Lady Bluebird at 11/2 is the next best.

Listowel 17:22 | New Grange | 3pt win at Evens, General

NEXT BEST: Young Doran at 9/2

The finale asks a very different question over two and a half miles. New Grange won his only bumper start and now has Patrick Mullins, a significant booking for a four-year-old receiving weight from the older geldings. The extended trip is new, so Evens cannot be treated as a formality. Young Doran has twice shaped like a stayer in point-to-points and is the principal danger at 9/2, while Rond Point has respectable Galway evidence. New Grange's combination of unbeaten rules form, weight and rider makes him the second permitted 3pt win of the day. I would not chase the price below Evens. The next best is Young Doran, whose jumping background is useful evidence of stamina but whose lack of a completed bumper run leaves him less certain in this setting.

VERDICT: New Grange, 3pt win at Evens, General. Back only at Evens or bigger; Young Doran at 9/2 is the next best.
