This is today's meeting-led edition of our horse racing tips coverage.

The Listed Edmund and Josie Whelan Memorial Listowel Stakes gives the third day of the Harvest Festival its centrepiece. There are 70 active runners across seven races after three non-runners. I have favoured current form and a workable price over a simple march through the favourites. The result is one strong short-priced bet and two carefully priced each-way plays. That is an opinion about the odds, not a promise about the results.

Racing TV's current Listowel card and Racing Post's feature racecard report yielding ground; the earlier Racing API standard feed still describes it as good, good to yielding in places. Recheck the official going before betting.

Listowel 13:47 | Churchill Bond | 2pt win at 3/1, William Hill

NEXT BEST: Loughrea N Roll at 10/11

The first question is whether Loughrea N Roll is so far clear of the opposition that 10/11 is enough. His Curragh debut third was accomplished from the back, but he was three lengths away and that run came on much faster ground. Churchill Bond has been learning in three starts. She was short of room before finishing fifth at Naas, then stayed on for third at Galway on soft, beaten less than two lengths. The filly receives five pounds from the colts and has stall two. This is not a claim that she is the likeliest winner: it is a judgement that 3/1 with William Hill is a better price than the favourite's. I want a positive ride that uses the inside draw, not another effort left too late. Speakers Corner has ability but his Goodwood run was poor. Churchill Bond is a 2pt win selection; the favourite is next best, price only.

VERDICT: Churchill Bond, 2pt win at 3/1, William Hill. Back only at 3/1 or bigger; Loughrea N Roll at 10/11 is the next best.

Listowel 14:22 | Brains | 1pt e/w at 9/1, Bet365, 4 places

NEXT BEST: She's On The Ball at 5/1

This is a race to demand a price and a clean passage. She's On The Ball deserves respect after winning at Cork over seven furlongs, but she is six pounds higher and much shorter in the market. Brains is ten, so there is no unexposed angle, yet his current mark of 53 is three pounds below the mark from which he was beaten only a length at Leopardstown in August. He was third at Laytown last time after a hesitant start, again beaten about a length. Sand was a different surface, of course, and he must avoid being trapped wide from stall 11. At 9/1 with Bet365, four places, the combination of a workable mark and two recent competitive runs earns 1pt each-way. It is a measured bet in a messy handicap, not an assumption that age has ceased to matter. The recent Cork winner is next best at 5/1.

VERDICT: Brains, 1pt e/w at 9/1, Bet365, 4 places. Back only at 7/1 or bigger; She's On The Ball at 5/1 is the next best.

Listowel 14:57 | Apache Outlaw | 2pt win at 9/2, Bet365 and William Hill

NEXT BEST: Mercurial at 4/1

Dragon Of Malta won here yesterday over nine furlongs, a powerful piece of course evidence, but he now returns within a day and drops two furlongs. I would rather take Apache Outlaw at 9/2 with Bet365 and William Hill. His Chester second over seven and a half furlongs came on soft; he had previously finished close up over seven at Galway on yielding. Those efforts provide a more direct case for today's conditions than his raw recent form figures suggest. The objection is that he has not converted enough of these competitive performances into wins, and a slow start would be costly on this turning track. Mercurial is the obvious tactical danger: he led at Roscommon on yielding before finishing a close third and can get first run. Apache Outlaw's broader recent evidence at around seven furlongs makes him the 2pt win bet, with Mercurial next best at 4/1.

VERDICT: Apache Outlaw, 2pt win at 9/2, Bet365 and William Hill. Back only at 4/1 or bigger; Mercurial at 4/1 is the next best.

Listowel 15:32 | Chica Guerrera | 1pt e/w at 9/1, Bet365, 3 places

NEXT BEST: Jagged Edge at 5/2

Jagged Edge has the class form: a Listed mile win at Killarney last month and a rating of 105. He also carries 138 pounds, including a penalty, against Chica Guerrera on 130. She was only half a length away in a Leopardstown mile handicap ten days ago and had been narrowly beaten over further at Sligo on yielding. A repeat of those runs puts her into the argument, though a Listed field is plainly tougher than either handicap. At 9/1 with Bet365, three places, I can take that class rise with 1pt each-way and a minimum of 8/1. Jagged Edge is the likeliest winner and the correct next best at 5/2, but the eight-pound weight difference and his occasional below-par run, notably at Galway, make the favourite less attractive as the bet. This is an each-way value position, not a prediction that the filly is already proven at Listed level.

VERDICT: Chica Guerrera, 1pt e/w at 9/1, Bet365, 3 places. Back only at 8/1 or bigger; Jagged Edge at 5/2 is the next best.

Listowel 16:07 | Oklahoma | 3pt win at 7/4, Bet365

NEXT BEST: Oristown Boy at 9/2

The short-priced horse I am prepared to support is Oklahoma. His Curragh second over seven furlongs gave him a stronger piece of form than the recent wins achieved by several of these; a Killarney third over today's mile also showed he can handle an Irish turning track. York was disappointing, and 7/4 is not a gift if that effort is repeated. But this is a return to a smaller, more familiar assignment, with a likely pace to follow from Banks Of The Boyne. Oristown Boy won at Galway and is the most credible alternative at 9/2, though his Roscommon third suggests he still needs more against the favourite's best. Romance is improving after a Down Royal win, but also rises in grade. I make Oklahoma the NAP and a 3pt win at 7/4 with Bet365, with a firm minimum of 6/4. He must reproduce his earlier standard; nobody should treat the price as a promise.

VERDICT: Oklahoma, 3pt win at 7/4, Bet365. Back only at 6/4 or bigger; Oristown Boy at 9/2 is the next best.

Listowel 16:41 | Morehampton | 2pt win at 11/2, William Hill

NEXT BEST: Goal Exceeded at 4/1

Goal Exceeded arrives off a Roscommon success on yielding and is a sound danger. He is up three pounds, however, and Morehampton brings a close Roscommon second on yielding from his current mark and a Gowran third before that. He was beaten only half a length last time, sustaining his effort rather than flashing home off a collapsed pace. The price gap matters: 11/2 with William Hill is enough for a 2pt win bet, subject to 5/1 or bigger. He has not been putting wins together and must find a way past the recent winner, but his draw is manageable and the race shape need not work against him. Victory Tip is returning from a break and has to erase a poor Ascot effort. Goal Exceeded, rather than an outsider, is the honest next best at 4/1. The main selection is the value call, not the most fashionable recent winner.

VERDICT: Morehampton, 2pt win at 11/2, William Hill. Back only at 5/1 or bigger; Goal Exceeded at 4/1 is the next best.

Listowel 17:16 | Sunrush | 2pt win at 6/1, Unibet and William Hill

NEXT BEST: Count Bezukhov at 3/1

The finale is a stamina question. Count Bezukhov won over ten furlongs and was third at Doncaster over twelve, but he must now stretch to fourteen at 3/1. Sunrush has already won at this trip, at Navan last month, and was third over twelve at Tramore on good to yielding. His six-pound rise is real, and the Navan win was on good rather than today's yielding, so this is no simple repeat job. Yet the proven trip and more accessible 6/1 with Unibet and William Hill justify 2pt win, with 6/1 the floor. Vantage Code is tempting at a larger price after a Galway win over this trip, but the fourteen-pound rise from that success and a subsequent well-beaten York run make a second official bet difficult to justify. Count Bezukhov is the priced next best despite his stamina doubt; his recent progression merits that place in the order.

VERDICT: Sunrush, 2pt win at 6/1, Unibet and William Hill. Back only at 6/1 or bigger; Count Bezukhov at 3/1 is the next best.

Oklahoma is the NAP because his Curragh seven-furlong second and Killarney mile third set the strongest juvenile standard on the card. The York reversal must be forgiven, which is why 6/4 is the minimum. Apache Outlaw is next best of the day: his Chester and Galway form offers a coherent easing-ground case at 9/2. In the handicaps, Brains has the clearest mark-and-place-terms argument, while Morehampton is the straightforward win-value call.
