The Rowley Mile stages the strongest British or Irish card of the day, headed by Blue Bolt's attempt to extend a brilliant winning sequence in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes. The supporting card contains a valuable juvenile sales race and three handicaps where the market offers more room than the headline event.

The going is good to firm, good in places after watering, with the stalls in the centre. Conditions are forecast to stay dry and mostly cloudy through racing. There are 53 active runners across seven races, and prices were checked at 08:10 BST.

The current Jockey Club fixture page confirms the Rowley Mile setting and Group 1 feature, while the Racing Post racecard provides an independent current check on the Sun Chariot field and race status.

Newmarket 12:25 | Hoseki | 3pt win at 15/8, William Hill

NEXT BEST: Pendella

Hoseki has turned a promising profile into a productive season, winning four of her last five starts and proving herself at ten furlongs on both fast and softer ground. She travelled strongly before winning at Haydock last month and the move back to a sound surface is no concern. A mark of 91 demands another step, but she remains less exposed than most of these and can sit behind the likely pace from stall two.

Pendella is the chief danger at 9/4. She has repeatedly run well in stronger handicaps and was caught only late at York, though her prominent style may leave her vulnerable to Hoseki's sharper finish. Supplicate is admirably progressive, while Light Of Paris has scope after a break, but neither offers the same balance of current evidence and price.

VERDICT: Hoseki, 3pt win at 15/8, William Hill. Evens is the minimum. Pendella is next best at 9/4.

Newmarket 13:00 | A Bear Affair | 0.75pt e/w at 14/1, General, 3 places

NEXT BEST: Night In Vegas

Night In Vegas sets a high standard after winning competitive sales races at Newmarket and Doncaster, but 4/6 leaves no margin for traffic or an imperfect first attempt at seven furlongs. Zigazig Ah is consistent and should stay, though 7/2 is short enough against a field containing several potential improvers.

A Bear Affair is the value play. He was a close fourth behind Night In Vegas at Doncaster, finished strongly in a large Newmarket field in August and returned to winning form at Salisbury on Thursday. The quick turnaround is an obvious risk, yet he has the experience, the rating and the late strength to benefit from seven furlongs. At 14/1, that case is strong enough to play both sides of the bet.

VERDICT: A Bear Affair, 0.75pt e/w at 14/1, General, 3 places. Keep to 11/1 or bigger. Night In Vegas is next best at 4/6.

Newmarket 13:35 | City Of Memphis | 2pt win at 13/2, William Hill, Boyle Sports, Paddy Power

NEXT BEST: Blue Bolt

Blue Bolt is the outstanding form horse and seeks a sixth consecutive win after Group 1 successes at Royal Ascot, Newmarket, Deauville and Leopardstown. She deserves to dominate, but 1/3 is too short for an official recommendation in a seven-runner race.

City Of Memphis chased her home at Leopardstown after completing a spring hat-trick and was still closing through the final furlong. She has only a little to find if Blue Bolt underperforms, arrives from a stable in form and has already shown that a strongly run mile suits. The 13/2 available with three permitted firms is the more attractive risk and reward proposition. Evolutionist has solid top-level form, while Calendar Girl can rebound on faster ground.

VERDICT: City Of Memphis, 2pt win at 13/2, William Hill, Boyle Sports, Paddy Power. Take 6/1 or bigger. Blue Bolt is next best at 1/3.

Newmarket 14:10 | Sportingsilvermine | 1pt e/w at 10/1, General, 3 places

NEXT BEST: Evanesco

Evanesco is respected after a strong fifth in a 21-runner Leopardstown handicap, yet top weight and 11/4 make him opposable. Primo Lara has progressed rapidly and Tycoon is capable of a big run, but both are priced close to their best recent efforts.

Sportingsilvermine has the right back form for a larger price. He won over twelve furlongs on fast ground at Newmarket in July and then chased home Primo Lara at Ascot, meeting trouble before finishing strongly. His last two runs were disappointing, but both came after doing too much early and the likely contested pace can help him settle. The return to a sound surface makes 10/1 with three places a fair each-way proposition.

VERDICT: Sportingsilvermine, 1pt e/w at 10/1, General, 3 places. Keep to 9/1 or bigger. Evanesco is next best at 11/4.

Newmarket 14:45 | Altius | 3pt win at 2/1, Bet365, William Hill

NEXT BEST: Kicking Bear

Kicking Bear shaped well when second on debut at Newbury and sets a useful standard, but he was able to race from the rear in a larger field and may face a different tactical test here. Altius was an odds-on favourite on debut at Sandown, travelled into contention and kept on for third without looking fully polished.

That experience should bring Altius forward. Charlie Appleby's juveniles are in excellent recent form, the seven furlongs is already proven and Saffie Osborne can keep him close enough in a four-runner race. Afif and Procyon are well-bred newcomers, but both must learn quickly against rivals with solid racecourse evidence.

VERDICT: Altius, 3pt win at 2/1, Bet365, William Hill. Evens is the minimum. Kicking Bear is next best at Evens.

Newmarket 15:15 | Chapel Stream | 1.5pt win at 16/1, General

NEXT BEST: Royal Quest

Mublish is a well-related newcomer from the Charlie Appleby yard and Royal Quest showed promise when fourth in a good Doncaster maiden, so the market has an obvious shape. Neither is without uncertainty, however, and a three-runner race can magnify tactical decisions.

Chapel Stream improved markedly on his second start at Yarmouth. He was short of room entering the final furlong, switched right and stayed on closest at the finish, suggesting the extra furlong can help. He must improve again, but 16/1 is much larger than the form gap warrants. With no viable place market, the value case is win-only.

VERDICT: Chapel Stream, 1.5pt win at 16/1, General. Take 14/1 or bigger. Royal Quest is next best at 11/8.

Newmarket 15:50 | Tryst | 2pt win at 13/2, General

NEXT BEST: Woohoo

This closing handicap contains plenty of pace, with Starlight Lass, Tryst and Havana Pusey all capable of racing forward. Starlight Lass has obvious potential but must rebound from a disappointing York run, while Woohoo is reliable without having converted several recent chances.

Tryst can be forgiven a troubled York effort and then stayed on well over a mile at Ascot. Her two summer wins came at seven furlongs on fast ground, including a comfortable front-running success at Newmarket, and the return to this trip is a clear positive. The weight is demanding, but 13/2 offers enough compensation in a race where she can secure a prominent position.

VERDICT: Tryst, 2pt win at 13/2, General. Take 6/1 or bigger. Woohoo is next best at 4/1.

Best bets of the day

Hoseki is the NAP because her four wins from five starts give her the clearest combination of progress, trip evidence and current form. City Of Memphis is the next best of the day at a much larger price in the Sun Chariot, where her Leopardstown second gives her a credible route to upsetting Blue Bolt. A Bear Affair and Sportingsilvermine provide the each-way value in races with the field depth and verified terms to support that approach.
