Leicester supplies the strongest British card on an ordinary Tuesday, with the Class 3 staying handicap supported by three Class 4 races. The betting interest is not confined to that feature. Red Snapper brings the most persuasive blend of current form and price in the last, while the juvenile races demand a clear distinction between demonstrated ability and potential.

The seven-race card runs from 13:31 to 17:01, with 63 active runners after Be The Standard’s withdrawal. The course’s latest going bulletin reports good to firm, good in places, with watering and a GoingStick reading of 6.1; that bulletin was updated on Monday morning and agrees with today’s card. Mostly cloudy weather is shown in the current racecard feed. Prices and active runners were checked in the live sportsbook grids at 08:13 BST. Odds and declarations can change before racing.

Leicester 13:31 | Sir David | 2pt win at 5/1, General

There is a temptation to build this race around how far Dashing Dick has fallen in the weights. I would rather start with what Sir David has actually done. His neck second over this course and distance on 21 September was a proper finishing effort, and followed a battling Beverley win in August. A rise of 2lb is manageable at 5/1.

Shark Two One beat him here by making the running and then rallying. That horse is now 5lb higher, while Dashing Dick and Soca Star add other reasons not to expect a comfortable lead. Sir David is not dependent on a pace collapse, but a race in which the leaders have to work should help him finish his challenge.

The favourite has been competitive at times and drops back from a mile, but the declining mark comes with a string of defeats. Eyes Front at 4/1 is the next best: his Kempton third followed a bump at the start, and a return to seven furlongs after his Leicester sprint run looks sensible. The outside draw is the obvious complication for him. Sir David’s current course evidence wins the argument, provided Alex Jary can find cover.

VERDICT: Sir David, 2pt win at 5/1, General. Minimum price 9/2. The next best is Eyes Front at 4/1, tracked separately.

Leicester 14:06 | Havana Flash | 3pt win at 13/8, Bet365

Woodvale won his Beverley debut with something in hand and may be better than the bare form. That is the strongest objection to Havana Flash, but the market asks us to pay heavily for the improvement before seeing it. The filly receives 9lb and has already gone very close over five furlongs on good to firm at Lingfield.

Her more recent Chester third came over six furlongs in heavy ground. This return to a sharper race on a sound surface is a substantial change, not a cosmetic excuse. Billy Loughnane can use her experience to have her organised early, and 13/8 is a workable price for that weight-and-conditions argument.

Woodvale at 10/11 remains the clear next best. He did not need an easy lead at Beverley, and a penalty will not prevent him winning if he progresses sharply. Paphos is improving but still has a gap to close; the other two need a much larger change in performance. I am taking Havana Flash’s demonstrated fast-ground speed against Woodvale’s potential, not pretending the favourite is exposed.

VERDICT: Havana Flash, 3pt win at 13/8, Bet365. Minimum price 6/4. The next best is Woodvale at 10/11, tracked separately.

Leicester 14:41 | Secret Rival | 1pt e/w at 15/2, Ladbrokes, 4 places

A nursery this size is no place to confuse a low mark with a good bet. Secret Rival has a more specific argument. She finished third at Southwell from 57 after missing the break, following a Newcastle run in which her best work also came late. She is learning to finish her six-furlong races, and a competitive pace here could make that progress count.

The reservation is straightforward: those encouraging efforts were on the all-weather, while this is quick turf, and another slow beginning could leave her dependent on gaps. At 15/2, however, there is compensation for those uncertainties. Ladbrokes’ four-place offer gives a useful way to support the improving performance without assuming everything will fall right.

Ma Fille de Reve at 3/1 is the strongest alternative after her close Thirsk second, even with a 4lb rise. Holliesthedollie’s Windsor win deserves respect but came on soft ground, while Passerine has a long absence to overcome. Several others are being asked to revive. Secret Rival does not have to be the finished article to offer the better value today.

VERDICT: Secret Rival, 1pt e/w at 15/2, Ladbrokes, 4 places. Minimum price 7/1. The next best is Ma Fille de Reve at 3/1, tracked separately.

Leicester 15:16 | Ozone Friendly | 2pt win at 4/1, General

The lightly raced fillies may progress, but Ozone Friendly is the one whose mile credentials are already visible. Her Lingfield second was a sustained effort at the distance, and the subsequent Newmarket fourth over seven furlongs was respectable. Returning to a mile with Rossa Ryan looks the right move rather than a demand for unexplained improvement.

Caelan’s Rose at 10/3 is the next best. Her Salisbury third on debut sets a useful standard and Alfie Redman’s 7lb claim matters. She also moves from good to soft to a quicker surface. Engedi should appreciate further after staying on at Beverley, although the gap to the winner was sizeable. Neither placing alone makes those fillies superior to the selection.

Izabel is an interesting newcomer from a stable in form, but stable figures cannot tell us how an unraced filly will handle her first race. Ozone Friendly has less hidden potential than some rivals; she also has fewer unanswered questions about the trip. At 4/1, that practical advantage is worth backing.

VERDICT: Ozone Friendly, 2pt win at 4/1, General. Minimum price 7/2. The next best is Caelan's Rose at 10/3, tracked separately.

Leicester 15:51 | Brummell | 2pt win at 4/1, General

Brummell has been running well enough to deserve another chance. He was narrowly beaten at Beverley after having to wait for room, following a close Doncaster third. The 3lb rise is offset in the carried weight by Tom Kiely-Marshall’s claim, and 4/1 is fair for a horse bringing that level of current form.

Stall one is not a free advantage. He needs to secure a position without becoming boxed in, and Forager’s recent easy Bath win adds a genuine threat. Ziggy’s Triton at 7/2 is the next best after a narrow Southwell defeat and a Redcar run compromised late. The quick return is a reservation, but he is credible on form rather than an alternative chosen for a particular price.

There is also a separate bet on Tiva at 16/1. Her Ripon defeat came when isolated from the main group, whereas the preceding Doncaster win and close Newmarket fourth give her a proper recent foundation. Conor Whiteley takes off 5lb. A rebound is required, and the field could split again, so this is a smaller each-way position with three places at William Hill, not an assertion that the last run can be erased.

VERDICT: Brummell, 2pt win at 4/1, General. Minimum price 7/2. The next best is Ziggy's Triton at 7/2, tracked separately.

Leicester 16:26 | Parlando | 2pt win at 3/1, General

Solarize returned with a Southwell win and is entitled to be prominent in the market. The unanswered question is turf: every start in his available record has been on the all-weather. I prefer Parlando at 3/1, whose recent Newbury third and Chester win supply a firmer reference for racing on grass.

Parlando has stayed close to his current mark of 86, and Billy Loughnane can choose his moment in a field reduced to five by Be The Standard’s withdrawal. The longer trip is the reservation. His turf record around twelve furlongs is not strong enough to call him a proven stayer, and a steady pace could leave a held-up horse with work to do. Those risks are more fairly priced than Solarize’s surface uncertainty.

Solarize at 2/1 is the next best, with fitness and distance in his favour. Ruby Wedding has a twelve-furlong Salisbury win but must settle much better than at Doncaster; Percy’s Daydream also has a trip question. This is a win-only race in the plan, with Parlando selected on price and established recent turf form rather than certainty about the distance.

VERDICT: Parlando, 2pt win at 3/1, General. Minimum price 11/4. The next best is Solarize at 2/1, tracked separately.

Leicester 17:01 | Red Snapper | 2pt win at 4/1, General

Red Snapper is the day’s best bet at 4/1. Two six-furlong wins on good to firm, at Salisbury and Chepstow, were followed by a second on soft ground at Salisbury. That is a consistent run of form, not a single performance we need to rescue with an elaborate explanation. He is unchanged on 66 and Ben Ffrench Davis takes off 5lb.

The return to a quicker surface is welcome, and his recent finishing efforts should be useful if the forward-going horses keep each other honest. Stall one is the risk: he must find room rather than become a passenger behind weakening runners. There is no need to promise a pace collapse to make the case.

Magic Music at 7/4 is the next best after her nose defeat over this course and distance, when a late squeeze cost her momentum. She is only 1lb higher and could readily win. The price difference is decisive for me. Red Snapper offers solid recent evidence at more than twice those fractional odds, with the claim providing an additional practical advantage.

VERDICT: Red Snapper, 2pt win at 4/1, General. Minimum price 7/2. The next best is Magic Music at 7/4, tracked separately.

Best bets of the day

Red Snapper is the NAP, with fast-ground wins, an unchanged mark and a useful claim supporting the price. Ozone Friendly is next best of the day on her established mile form. Brummell is the principal handicap angle earlier on the card, while Secret Rival and the separately advised Tiva provide the larger-priced interest for specific form and tactical reasons.
